thinking and encourages physical activity. With a climbing log structure, new benches, a reading corner and dedicated outdoor classroom, it's allowing our students to learn both in and from nature. With the funds raised, we also purchased Innovative Learning Tools designed to nurture student growth and promote skill development. Items such as standing desks, noise-blocking headphones, hanging whiteboards and wobble chairs support differentiated learning in the classroom. Integrated screens and projectors at La p'tite école and the Junior School gyms are enriching assemblies and student presentations. New equipment purchases in support of our TFS athletics program include a protective net for the Play & Sports Field and more basketball nets. Your shared commitment to academic ambition and all-round development made all of these enhancements and acquisitions possible. We are proud to report that, this past September, TFS was able to welcome a second entrance scholarship recipient. This is a vital program for TFS – it can change the life of a talented student who could not otherwise afford to attend our school, while also enriching the educational experience for all students. We wish our Webb Family Scholar every success in the years ahead and we extend our sincerest gratitude to all donors for your continuing support of our school's strategic priorities. Your philanthropy inspires us. The year ahead promises to be exciting, as the TFS Foundation takes on an even greater role as the central fundraising arm for the school. Together, the TFS Foundation and the TFS Board of Directors are committed to building on our past achievements as we help to guide TFS' future growth. Early in 2017 we identified priorities that would enhance teaching and learning at TFS. Creating Inspiring Places encompassed a variety of dynamic projects at both campuses and in each branch. Once again, you embraced the school's mission, vision and values with your philanthropic spirit, allowing us to complete every objective over the summer so that our students could return in the fall and benefit from these transformed learning spaces. Gym renovations at La p'tite école included new flooring, lighting and equipment to enhance sports activities, while stage upgrades allow for more room for performances. Our youngest pupils can now enjoy more varied gym classes, more assemblies, performances and concerts. Renovating the Junior School's main floor classrooms has created flexible spaces that can be adapted to support both collaborative and independent learning. In the Senior School's physics and chemistry labs, new technology, furniture, floor and wall finishes, LED lighting, improved acoustic insulation and a large whiteboard create a bright, open space conducive to exploration and experimentation. At our West Campus, we created a beautiful outdoor area that stimulates creative Joint Message from the Chairs Christian Lassonde Chair, TFS Foundation Mitch Frazer Chair, Board of Directors 2016 – 2017 Report to Our Community 1
