Please review the Bullying Prevention document for parents on your branch site under Resources. 4) PERSONAL COMMUNICATION DEVICES (SMARTPHONES, WEARABLES, ETC.) All students may use these devices on campus before school begins and after school ends. Additional standards for use of voice and text communication will be provided by the individual branch. Unauthorized use of such devices disrupts the instructional program and distracts from the learning environment. It also devalues person-to-person social interaction. Therefore, unauthorized use is grounds for confiscation of the device by school officials and classroom teachers. Repeated unauthorized use of such devices may lead to disciplinary action. For further information regarding the appropriate use of electronic devices, please see the IT Acceptable Use Policy. 5) ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The TFS Code of Conduct recognizes that all members of the school community have an obligation to comply with the standards of behaviour outlined in this policy. TFS expects parents and caregivers, students, teachers and other staff members to work in partnership to ensure positive outcomes for students. Each member of the school community has the following roles and responsibilities: Students Students are to be treated with respect and dignity. In return, they must demonstrate respect for themselves, for others, and for the responsibilities of citizenship through acceptable behaviour. Respect and responsibility are demonstrated when a student: - models and promotes the attributes of the TFS motto, values, mission and vision; - comes to school prepared and ready to learn; - attends regularly and on time; - complies with the TFS school uniform policy and is groomed in a manner that is appropriate to the school setting; - maintains academic honesty and does not cheat on a task or an exam, submit the same work for different assignments, or plagiarize; - shows respect for themselves, for others, and for those in authority; - refrains from bringing anything to school that may compromise the safety of others; - follows the established rules and takes responsibility for one's own actions; - is a positive ambassador for the school both on- and off-site; - exercises self-discipline; - accepts such discipline as would be exercised by a kind, firm and judicious parent; - is courteous to fellow pupils, and respectively cooperative and courteous to teachers, staff and other adults; - shows respect for school and personal property; and, - understands and complies with the TFS Code of Conduct and school rules, and takes responsibility for one's own actions. Parents and Caregivers Parents and caregivers play an important role in the education of their children and have a responsibility to support the efforts of school staff in maintaining a safe, inclusive, accepting and respectful learning environment for all students. TFS expects parents and caregivers to: - model and promote the attributes of the TFS motto, values, mission and vision; - show an active interest in their children's school work and progress; - communicate regularly with the school; - help their child be neat, properly groomed and dressed in the TFS uniform and prepared for school;
