Grade 5 students at the Junior School
discuss how they find common ground
International perspective is one of the three core pillars of TFS,
along with academic ambition and all-round development. Yet none
of these pillars stands alone. That's why you will find international
perspective within our academics and embedded as part of students'
individual enrichment and citizenship activities.
Key ways in which we address international perspective is through
mentorship and societies. Both help our younger students grow their
awareness of the wider world – in Toronto, Canada and beyond. This
is one such mentorship meeting.
Sylvie Lasserre, Grade 5 teacher and mentor
at the Junior School, sits on the floor in front of a
semicircle of eager students. Today they are holding
a special mentorship session, as always in French.
The topic is how our students develop connections
and bonds that surmount the differences between
them, differences that, reflective of our school's
diversity, might include ethnicity, culture, language,
history and life experiences. Let's listen in.
