Parents' Handbook 2020– 2021 29 Dances: Several school dances and movie nights are held throughout the year. This includes dances for Grades 6, 7 and Level I, as well as the semi-formal for Levels II-V. Spirit Days and Theme Weeks: Our student leaders – First Citizens, Citizens' Assembly Deputies, Prefects, House Heads, and Club and Society Leaders – organize Spirit Days and special themed days, including Community and Pink Days. They also work collaboratively to organize events and celebrate theme weeks such as Child Rights Week, Earth Week, Inclusion and Empathy, and Francophonie weeks for the entire Senior School. Student Leadership: Our student leaders have important, positive roles to play in our community. They model integrity, discernment, respect, engagement, effective communication and organization skills, and balance of academic and co-curricular commitments and responsibilities. - Citizens' Assembly Deputies - In LII to LV, four students are elected to the Citizens' Assembly by their level peers in May in order to be ready for important responsibilities starting the following September. Students from Grade 6 to LI are elected by their peers each September. Similarly to the Lycée students, there are four LI Deputies elected by level, whereas each Grade 6 and 7 class elects two Deputies. These Citizens' Assembly Deputies act as a liaison among students, Prefects and the administration by promoting student voice, suggesting plans and campaigns (e.g., social action initiatives), and contributing positively to student life. They meet regularly to discuss issues related to student voice in order to ameliorate the TFS student experience. - Lycée Prefects - Selected by outgoing LV Prefects, staff mentors, year leaders, guidance counsellors and members of the student life team, these students work on their respective portfolios in order to support clubs, societies and activities at the Senior School. They meet regularly for leadership training and event planning, and work collaboratively with the Citizens' Assembly Deputies in order to ensure that events and activities reflect the needs and wants of the student community. The positions, filled by Level IV and V students, help to develop a positive school climate and encourage pride in TFS' culture. - Collège Prefects - Selected by outgoing LV Prefects, staff mentors, year leaders, guidance counsellors and members of the student life team, these LI and II students work with numerous student and staff members to address issues of importance to the school community, and aim to encourage active participation in school life by promoting pride in the arts, environmentalism, outreach, well-being and WEB (CAP). - House Heads - There are two enthusiastic and spirited elected leaders of each House at the Senior School. House Heads organize spirit and inclusion events. They also support initiatives organized by Deputies, Prefects and Club and Society Leaders. - CAP (Chacun a sa place), formerly WEB (Where Everybody Belongs), a transition program, is led by 24 selected Level I and II students. They welcome Grade 6 and new-to-TFS Grade 7 students to the Senior School with community-building and well-being activities on Welcome Back Day and throughout the school year. CAPitaines, receive specific leadership training, beginning with the Spring Play Day (June) and throughout the academic year, to prepare them for and support them in this important role.
