TFS - Canada's International School

Arrivée à TFS au Campus Ouest en grande section, GABRIELA, ou Gabbie, est une élève réfléchie et une danseuse accomplie. En CM2 (5e année), elle a changé d'école, mais est revenue en 6ème (6e année) pour retrouver l'environnement incroyablement stimulant de TFS. Non seulement Gabbie parle couramment le français et l'anglais, mais elle a aussi grandi dans une famille où l'on parle espagnol. En dehors de l'école, elle a fait de la danse de haut niveau en pratiquant des styles très variés : hip-hop, jazz, mais aussi la danse contemporaine et classique. Membre de l'équipe canadienne lors du concours de danse de International Dance Organization au Danemark, elle a ensuite arrêté la compétition pour se concentrer sur le Baccalauréat International, tout en continuant malgré tout de se consacrer rigoureusement à cette passion, parfois jusqu'à 15 heures pendant ses fins de semaine. Le fait d'être montée sur scène dès son plus jeune âge lui a permis de gagner confiance en elle, en particulier lorsqu'il s'agit de défendre ses convictions et d'affirmer son identité. En Terminale (Niveau V), Gabbie a participé au défilé de mode de l'école et a chorégraphié le très populaire spectacle de danse de TFS. Pour son œuvre sociale, elle s'est portée volontaire dans le groupe de discussion des élèves pour Angel Alert, une association qui fournit aux personnes à faible revenu un soutien financier et des services d'urgence. GABRIELA, or Gabbie, is a thoughtful student and accomplished dancer who first entered TFS in Senior Kindergarten at the West Campus. She changed schools for Grade 5 and returned a few months into Grade 6, after realizing how much she missed the academic challenges at TFS. On top of speaking English and French fluently, she grew up speaking Spanish at home. Outside of school, she danced competitively, specializing in hip hop, jazz, contemporary and ballet styles. She competed as a member of Team Canada at the International Dance Organization in Denmark, before pausing competitive dance to focus on the IB Diploma Program, while still maintaining a rigorous performance schedule, often dancing 12 to 15 hours on weekends. She attributes her early exposure to performance to giving her confidence and a self-assuredness that she applies to all aspects of her life, especially when it comes to speaking up for her beliefs and staying grounded in her identity. Gabbie was involved in the school's Fashion Show in Level V and choreographed the program for the much-loved Dance Show. For her long-term service project, she volunteered with the student focus group for Angel Alert, an organization that provides low-income individuals with financial support and emergency services.
