10 Parents' Handbook 2021– 2022 After 9:15 a.m., the office will telephone the parent/ guardian if a student has not arrived at school. When late or returning to school after a short absence (doctor's appointment, etc.), students need to report to the Branch Office, or the Attendance Office at the Senior School. Senior School students arriving after late must check in at the Attendance Office before proceeding to a class with a late slip. We remind you that classes start at 8:30 a.m. and at 9:40 a.m. on Wednesdays. PICK-UP Students should be picked up promptly after school, at the time listed in the table below; ad hoc After School Care is not available. Students who have siblings at another branch should be picked up at the earlier pickup time. Senior School students should immediately leave the premises; Grade 5 students may be allowed to go home independently, if they have prior permission from the vice-principal. Parents are asked to consult the back-to-school information package for pick-up times for each branch. BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE TFS offers Before and After School Care for students in Jardin d'éveil - Grade 7: - Before and after school care (from JE - Grade 5 in Toronto and all grades at the West Campus); - Étude (after school study hall) for students from Grades 1 to 7; and - Child care on Professional Development (PD) days, up to Grade 5 in Toronto and up to Grade 7 at the West Campus. All programs are available on a five-day-a-week four session basis only for 2021-2022. Applications, including all medical and contact information should be completed in August for new and returning students, at which time payment for the first session is also due. For any information regarding the programs, please contact your Branch Office or child care staff, or please refer to the back to school package for your child's branch. HOURS Morning 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. Afternoon End of school day - 6:00 p.m. LATENESS We ask parents to pick up children on time. Lateness in collecting your child will result in an extra charge as well as a review of your child's status in the Before and After School Care program. EMERGENCY SCHOOL CLOSINGS The school remains open at all scheduled times, barring a general power failure or other condition that would make it unsafe to operate. If you suspect the school may be closed, e.g. for extreme weather, please first visit the tfs.ca homepage or your branch site (i.e. sr.tfs.ca). Email or text notifications may also be sent out, if available. ADMISSIONS AND STUDENT RE-REGISTRATION Re-registration is an online process that opens towards the end of January. The registration deadline for current students returning to the school for the 2022-2023 academic year is February 9, 2022.
