22 Parents' Handbook 2021– 2022 to a wide array of technology, including laptops and desktops, iPads, 3D printers, digital cameras, video production equipment, robotics and interactive projectors in every classroom. Laptops, chargers, video cameras, audio recorders and LCD projectors are available on loan through the Senior School Library system. Each TFS user works within our campus-wide network and has ubiquitous access to a secure, high-speed Internet connection. In 2021-2022, students from Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 1 are assigned an iPad for school use. Students from Grade 2 to Grade 4 are assigned a Chromebook and Grade 5 students a MacBook Air. Each TFS student has a password-protected TFS.ca account for accessing online resources and receives in-class digital citizenship lessons. All TFS teachers are equipped with a MacBook Air laptop and iPad with stylus to support integration of technology driven by pedagogy. In 2021-22, Grade 6 to Level V students will again participate in a Bring your Own Device (BYOD) one-to-one program. The laptop requirement is either a Mac OS X or Windows laptop with minimum 8GB of RAM. Laptop loans are available through the library if needed; please email questions or concerns to byod@tfs.ca. SPECIAL TOOLS, FACILITIES AND ACTIVITIES There are many information technology and media facilities available at TFS: - Computer graphic workstations with digital animation, graphic art and audio manipulation; - Full Adobe Creative Cloud Suite for all Grade 5 to Level V students - RoboticsLab including mBot, Arduino and EV3 Educational Robotic Systems; - Mobile solar panel cart; - Virtual Reality kits; - Computer-equipped science labs; - Mobile computer carts with scientific probes; - Online subscriptions to educational resources, research tools and database catalogues; - Large-format poster-sized printers and scanners; and, - Digital media and broadcast studios, producing Internet radio, VOD and live video streaming. VALUE-ADDED INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES AT TFS INCLUDE: Mobile Hotspot: Mississauga-based students travelling to the Senior School have Wi-Fi connectivity while on the bus. This mobile Wi-Fi service is also available during school trips, when more than one hour of time is spent on the bus. LIBRARY INFORMATION CENTRES All of the branch libraries have well-established and closely supervised collection development policies to ensure that a wide selection of appropriate print, nonprint and electronic material is available to each student. The central focus of the Library Information Centres is to instil a love of reading and lifelong learning. To access TFS' libraries, please visit forum.tfs. ca and choose the appropriate grade level. Please note that library use and borrowing of books will resume with close to normal operations. LA P'TITE ÉCOLE (PK-GRADE 1) JK to Grade 1 students have the opportunity to choose a book to take home, on loan for a one-week period. Returned books will be "quarantined" for one week. Books that go missing or are damaged will be replaced by the school and a replacement fee will be charged to the student's account. JUNIOR SCHOOL (GRADES 2-5) Both students and parents alike can borrow from the Junior School library! The loan period is one week. Loans can be renewed if the book has not been requested by another student. Books can be returned or exchanged by students before or after school. Returned books will be "quarantined" for one week.
