34 Parents' Handbook 2021– 2022 Safety All members of the school community must: - obey traffic rules when arriving, leaving and while on school property; - refrain from bringing anything to school that may compromise personal safety, or the safety of others; and, - demonstrate appropriate conduct and manners at all times. Members of the school community must not: - engage in bullying or cyber-bullying behaviours, whether it is bullying (in person) or cyber-bullying (electronically); - threaten or intimidate another person; - commit physical, verbal or sexual assault; - be in possession of any weapon and/or illegal drugs; - traffic weapons and/or illegal drugs; - commit theft or robbery; - use any object to threaten or intimidate another person; - cause injury to any person; - be in possession of, or be under the influence of, or provide others with alcohol, cannabis (unless the individual has been authorized to use cannabis for medical purposes) or illegal drugs; - provide others with alcohol, illegal drugs, or cannabis (unless the recipient is an individual who has been authorized to use cannabis for medical purposes); - encourage others to inflict bodily harm on themselves or another person; - engage in hate propaganda in person or electronically or engage in other forms of behaviour motivated by hate or bias; - commit an act of vandalism that causes damage to personal or school property, to property located on the premises of the school, or to the property of others; - distribute hate material; - inappropriately use electronic communications/ media; including accessing inappropriate materials on the internet; posting or texting offensive, derogatory and/or degrading comments or images on personal or commercial websites (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, www. ratemyteachers.com and similar sites); or - engage in conduct injurious to the moral tone of the school or to the physical or mental well-being of others. The TFS standards of behaviour apply to all members of the school community, including students, parents, caregivers, guardians, teachers or other school staff members, board members, volunteers and visitors. 3) Roles and Responsibilities The TFS Code of Conduct recognizes that all members of the school community have an obligation to comply with the standards of behaviour outlined in this policy. TFS expects parents and caregivers, students, teachers and other staff members to work in partnership to ensure positive outcomes for students. Each member of the school community has the following roles and responsibilities: TFS – Canada's International School It is the responsibility of TFS to: - develop policies that set out how the school will implement and enforce its Code of Conduct and other rules that promote and support respect, civility, responsible citizenship and safety; - review policies regularly with students, staff, parents, volunteers and the community; - communicate clearly the TFS Code of Conduct to
