TFS The West Campus Gym Becomes a Curling Rink Rather than speed or power, curling is a sport that requires great hand- eye coordination and precision above all else. Last February, students from JK to Grade 7 at the West Campus had the opportunity to practise their technique as the school gymnasium was transformed into a curling club for a week. Students enjoyed learning the rules of this iconic Canadian game - and winter Olympic sport - and built up their teamwork skills. What is an invasive plant? What are the impacts of invasive species on biodiversity? These are the questions our Grade 4s pondered while participating in a Norway maple eradication campaign. For the past two years, the Grade 4 students from the Junior School met in the ravine every Wednesday for their society sessions. After learning to recognize Norway maples, they descended into the ravine equipped with pruning clippers and fluorescent tape to mark the trees. More than 300 Norway maples were removed or marked for later cutting. Grade 4 Students Take Action Against Invasive Species TFS at the International Finals of Dictée P.G.L. On May 18, 2021, Junior School Grade 5 student Logan S. participated in the 30th edition of the international finals of the Dictée P.G.L.; organized in collaboration with the Université du Québec à Montréal. Logan competed alongside 119 Grade 5 and 6 students from Canada and the United States, writing on the topic of biodiversity in the French as a second language category. While she fell just short of winning a prize, Logan's dictée was pretty remarkable since she made almost no mistakes! 07
