Parents' Handbook 2022– 2023 33 - distribute hate material; - inappropriately use electronic communications/ media; including accessing inappropriate materials on the internet; posting or texting offensive, derogatory and/or degrading comments or images on personal or commercial websites (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, www.ratemyteachers.com and similar sites); or - engage in conduct injurious to the moral tone of the school or to the physical or mental well-being of others. The TFS standards of behaviour apply to all members of the school community, including students, parents, caregivers, guardians, teachers or other school staff members, board members, volunteers and visitors. 3) Roles and Responsibilities The TFS Code of Conduct recognizes that all members of the school community have an obligation to comply with the standards of behaviour outlined in this policy. TFS expects parents and caregivers, students, teachers and other staff members to work in partnership to ensure positive outcomes for students. Each member of the school community has the following roles and responsibilities: TFS – Canada's International School It is the responsibility of TFS to: - develop policies that set out how the school will implement and enforce its Code of Conduct and other rules that promote and support respect, civility, responsible citizenship and safety; - review policies regularly with students, staff, parents, volunteers and the community; - communicate clearly the TFS Code of Conduct to all parents, caregivers, students, staff members and other members of the school community, and obtain their commitment and support; - develop and employ intervention strategies and respond to all infractions related to the standards for respect, civility, responsible citizenship and physical safety; - provide opportunities for all staff to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to develop and maintain academic excellence in a safe and respectful learning and teaching environment; and, - ensure that all branches collaborate to provide coordinated prevention and intervention programs and services. Head of School Under the direction of the TFS Board, the Head of School is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Code of Conduct. Principals and Vice-Principals Under the direction of the Head, Principals and Vice- Principals take a leadership role in the daily operation of the school, maintain order in the school, and are expected to hold everyone to a high standard of respectful and responsible behaviour. Teachers and Other School Staff Members Under the leadership of the Principals and Vice- Principals, Executive Directors or Directors, teachers and other school staff members maintain order in the school and are expected to hold everyone to a high standard of respectful and responsible behaviour. Students Students are to be treated with respect and dignity. In return, they must demonstrate respect for themselves, for others, and for the responsibilities of citizenship through acceptable behaviour. Parents and Caregivers Parents and caregivers play an important role in the education of their children and have a responsibility to support the efforts of school staff in maintaining a safe, inclusive, accepting and respectful learning environment for all students.
