A highlight of the annual TFS Senior School graduation ceremony since 2002 has been the awarding of the S.W. Karrys Family Scholarship. It is a sought-after award for graduating TFS student-athletes and is unique among all other awards in that it celebrates outstanding athletic achievement, as well as academic ambition and intellectual curiosity. The pursuit of athletics alongside academics contributes to student all-round development, and ultimately helps build the confidence and mindset needed to become an engaged citizen who contributes to their community and the world. The S.W. Karrys Family Scholarship was established by Helen Karrys and her children, Anita and Steven, to honour her late husband and their late father, Steve William Karrys, who was a professional football player and successful businessman. Their generous endowment established in 2001 makes this annual scholarship possible. Nineteen years later, it remains the largest endowed gift made to the TFS Foundation, and it is the highest monetary award presented at graduation. We are honoured to have the Karrys family continuously engaged in the selection process and attend graduation each year to present the award to the successful candidates. To express our appreciation, we have created this special report, which includes current profiles of all 36 recipients of the S.W. Karrys Family Scholarship from 2002 to 2019. We are certain that you will be as proud as we are when you read about their achievements in higher education, as well as their contributions to their chosen fields and communities. Their compelling stories and personal words of gratitude demonstrate the incredible impact of the S.W. Karrys Family Scholarship on their lives, and how this scholarship supports the school's mission, which is to develop multilingual critical thinkers who celebrate difference, transcend borders and strive for the betterment of humankind. We extend our deepest gratitude to the entire Karrys family: Helen Karrys; Anita E. Karrys-Floras, her husband, John Floras, and daughters Alexandra '02 and Vanessa '05; Steven Karrys and his wife, Louise Adams, and daughter Andrea Karrys, who attended TFS from 1999-2009. We are also proud that Alexandra and her husband, Ben Concessi '02, have chosen TFS as the school for their children, Sophia, Grade 1, and Nicholas, JK. The Karrys family is a TFS family. Your collective years of dedication, volunteerism and support are part of the fabric of our school and we thank you for your continued engagement throughout the years. 5 The S.W.
