16 Parents' Handbook 2024– 2025 Senior School Grades 6 - Level V (Textbooks): Students may purchase new or used textbooks through Batner Bookstore online or at their storefront in Thornhill. Ordering is simple and efficient and Batner Bookstore will ensure that students get the right books on time at a fair price with a very fair return policy. Families also have the opportunity to sell their used textbooks back to the bookstore at the end of the school year for store credit or money back. TFS courses and associated booklists can be found on the Parent Portal (Veracross) in the Senior School section and on Batner Bookstore's website. Grades 6 - Level II (School Supplies): Students should come to school with the required supplies, which can be found on the Parent Portal (Veracross) under Supply List in the Senior School section. (Notebooks): Subject notebooks will be issued to Senior School students from Grades 6 to Level II. The list of notebooks can be found on the Parent Portal (Veracross) under Supply List in the Senior School section (please refer to page 4). Students will be given their school textbooks on Welcome Day and in the following days. Please note that these books belong to the school and must be returned in good condition at the end of the year. Parents will be responsible for the replacement cost of damaged or lost books. Level III students will be billed a one time fee for the Kognity subscription, a software that each student is required to use in Level IV and V. This is not included in the resource fee billed at registration time. West Campus PK - Grade 7: All students should come to school with the required supplies, which can be found on the Parent Portal (Veracross) under Supply List in the West Campus section. USED UNIFORM SALES The TFS Parents' Association holds used uniform sales throughout the school year. Some parents purchase most of their child's uniform pieces from the sale, while others use the sale to replace lost or outgrown items. TFS families, whose children have outgrown uniform items, donate gently used clothing to sale by dropping them in the bin labeled "Used Uniform" closest to their branch. Items are in excellent condition and stock is replenished on a regular basis from donations throughout the year. On average, the prices at the sale are at least half of the retail price. Payment is very easy, as we simply charge your child's TFS account! Please check the PA's website (pa.tfs.ca) for used uniform sale dates. Also, you will find signage around the school prior to a sale. If you have any questions or comments, please contact the Used Uniform Committee Chairs by email at pa.useduniform@tfs.ca.
