DESTINATION / DESTINATION University of Oxford PROGRAMME / PROGRAM Law PHILIP N. Confident and steady in his interests, Philip took an unhesitating approach towards both his academics and co-curriculars. In fact, he liked nothing better than bridging the gap between the two. Being part of the Classics club in Level I, leader of the mock trial club, co-founder of the history club, senior editor of the student digital newspaper, Limited Edition, and team captain in soccer, Philip says his progress was evolutionary. Like Ashwin, he grew from a budding student to become a leader at the school. Philip was able to synthesize his academics and co-curriculars through many of his activities. As an academic prefect in Levels IV and V, he set a goal of making academics open to and achievable by everyone, ensuring the students he oversaw succeeded in a manner that was individual to each of them. Other defining moments included placing second in the Poetry in Voice national competition in Level III, and placing first in the team regionals of the same competition in Level IV. "The theme of combining academics and co-curriculars is something I am committed to. It's this balancing of academics in a way that allows me to channel my interests and explore my passions," he said. Philip is equally commited to reaching the pinnacle of whichever field he chooses and defining that success according to his own standards. Philip has landed across the pond to take up residence at the University of Oxford, where he is studying direct entry law. While in the UK, he hopes to immerse himself in jurisprudence, join legal societies and partake in moot courts. Keeping in touch with his European roots, he would like to stay and work in Europe after university and become involved in the legal structure of the European Union, possibly entering into a field related to international law and politics. And of course, he intends to keep up with European soccer. ENTRE NOUS 22
