To say that TFS goes the extra mile for its students when it comes to university placement is an understatement. The school has long enjoyed a reputation for providing outstanding university support and career counselling, so it is no wonder that TFS grads are accepted into their universities of choice, are the recipients of highly competitive scholarships and leave the school poised to make their mark on the world. It's the rare few adolescents who show up in high school knowing what they want to be when they grow up. "Our job," explains Kim English, Director of University Counselling, "is to help students evolve their thinking and to empower them in their decision-making." COMPRENSIVE GUIDANCE Level I–III students take classes that explore their interests, values and goals, and investigate careers that align with them. In Levels IV and V, each student is paired with a specialist university counsellor who works with them and their families over their final two years. Counsellors get to know their students well and, with only a small number of students assigned to each, provide a high level of individual attention. 1 How Does TFS Prepare Its Students for University and Beyond? Let Us Count the Ways… TFS 35 University Counselling Director Kim English advises Parsa K., then in Level IV and now in Level V, on possible post-secondary choices. By Susan Markle
