Sheldon Fernandes '08 Sheldon has been working at the intersection of climate and energy since his university days, examining the impacts of Canadian and global business and government activities. His latest venture is Eco Echoes, a podcast where he and his co-host break down complex climate and energy topics for their listeners. Available wherever podcasts are found. Eric Tisch '12 After watching 63 movies at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) last year, Eric Tisch, a programming manager at Reel Canada, kicked things up a notch. This September he spent the Festival screening as many films as possible and set a TIFF record with an impressive total of 78 movies in 11 days. He submitted his feat to Guinness World Records and is waiting for the results. Aline Maybank '19 Aline is a second-year Master of Public Health student in Environmental Health Sciences, with a concentration on climate change and health, at Yale University. In the summer of 2024 she worked as a team lead on a NASA DEVELOP project, where her team examined how antecedent conditions and long-term environmental trends contribute to an increased fire risk in Vermont. Brett Thalmann '03 In 2023, Brett returned to Toronto to co-found Nexus Strategic Consultants, with his business partner and TFS alum Arthur Lam. Nexus, a boutique firm specializing in government relations, public affairs and strategy development, has established a niche in the Toronto tech startup space helping companies navigate complex regulatory environments and advising on engaging with all three levels of government. Malerie Lipa '09 After working for years in community mental health, Malerie recently celebrated the launch of her private practice, Malerie Lipa Therapy. She primarily supports children, teens, families and young adults dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD and major life changes, focusing on solutions to help navigate big emotions and challenging moments. 88 ENTRE NOUS
