DEAR TFS COMMUNITY, As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child. At TFS, we know it takes a dedicated community – one of passionate educators, supportive families, and an engaged network of alumni and past members who remain deeply connected to our school and embody our core values. That is why this year's issue of Entre Nous is dedicated to the committed members of the TFS community. Our school would not be the esteemed Toronto institution it is today without the strength and support of its community. In fact, it was a group of visionary parents, seeking a different type of education for their children, who quite literally built our school from the ground up. Our success today is due, in great part, to their bold foresight – parents like Isadore Sharp, who visited us last year (page 20) and remarked how every time he passes the school, he is impressed by how TFS has evolved, a testament to the success of their vision. What was true for TFS yesterday remains true today. Parents are the true builders of our school, generously giving their time, energy and resources to enrich the student experience. From Kermesse to Marché d'hiver, our annual events are steeped in tradition and brought to life by our wonderful and dedicated Parents' Association (page 28). And as we begin to break ground on our transformative Master Campus Plan (page 52), this vision remains top of mind. This milestone would not have been possible without the generous support of our remarkable community. It is with great anticipation that we prepare for the two new additions to TFS in the year ahead, both of which will enhance students' learning experiences and benefit the entire community. The construction of the athletic wing at the West Campus and L'Atelier at the Toronto campus will contribute to our future of excellence, further advancing arts, athletics and academic programming. Some of the best representation of TFS' success comes from celebrating the accomplishments of our recent graduates who are now applying the knowledge and skills they acquired here to life beyond our halls. In this issue, we dedicate a special section (page 31) to honour the outstanding accomplishments of the Class of 2024. Their stories showcase not only their impressive academic achievements, but also their dedication, leadership and involvement in school life. While they're embarking on exciting new journeys, their connection to TFS will remain deeply rooted, joining an alumni network that spans over 30 countries worldwide. These graduates, like our current students, embraced all that TFS has to offer, and that is presented all throughout this magazine. From our Brother and Sister Misha C. (Grade 2) and Roshan C. (Grade 4) with TFS mascot Tuffs on back-to-school day in September 2024. enriched STEAM programming (page 12), which fosters innovation and critical thinking, and our dynamic arts education (page 24) that inspires creativity and self-expression, to our world-class travel opportunities (page 26) that are the building blocks of a global mindset, these experiences and the individuals who bring them to life are what set TFS apart. Finally, this magazine would not be complete without taking a moment to celebrate the life of one such individual (page 4). In December 2023, the TFS community bid farewell to our former Headmaster John Ferguson Godfrey, whose visionary leadership and commitment were instrumental in launching programs and initiatives that continue to shape TFS today. Mr. Godfrey passionately championed bilingualism, environmentalism and an international perspective, and his legacy inspires us to lead with greatness. We sincerely hope you enjoy our 65th edition of Entre Nous. Happy reading. 3 TFS
