ANNE Y. DESTINATION Babson College PROGRAM Business When Anne moved to Mississauga in Grade 4 and started at TFS West Campus in Grade 6, it marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter in her life. With an open mind and calm demeanour, Anne thrives in new environments and welcomes change. She is always up for a challenge and is driven not by accolades but by her genuine passion for learning. As she puts it, "I try to leave my comfort zone in the pursuit of things I enjoy." The arts hold a special place in Anne's heart. "I love the creative aspect; it allows people to bond emotionally and makes the human experience so much more worth it," she says. Nominated as the highest-achieving arts student in Levels III and IV, Anne has been deeply involved in every aspect of the arts at TFS. She served on the Art Council, worked as a designer and co-head of publicity for the Fashion Show and worked as a technician for both the Dance Show and the Theatre Club. She was a leader in the Gender-Sexuality Alliance and played in the TFS band for many years. Alongside her passion for the arts, Anne has demonstrated a strong business acumen. In Level III, she participated in several business competitions, including the Rotman Commerce Boardroom and the Wharton Global High School Investment Competition. As a team leader in the latter, she led her team to the semi-finals, placing in the top 55 of 1,400 teams. She was also actively involved in DECA and the Future Business Leaders of America competition, earning fourth place in Canada for a written event. Anne has extended her leadership skills to tutoring and peer mentoring, not just for students but also for staff. Through the Tutors for Teachers program, she taught French and Mandarin to staff members, while also tutoring students in math and English. Anne is embarking on a new journey at Babson College in their top-ranked entrepreneurship program – an aspiration she's long held. The program's hands- on, practical approach perfectly aligns CAITLIN E. DESTINATION Imperial College London PROGRAM Medical Biosciences Caitlin started at the West Campus in Grade 1, and has grown into a highly motivated and tenacious student with a deep passion for learning and a desire to inspire others to strive for success. In fact, during her Diploma Program years, she took four Higher Level subjects, rather than the typical three. Her love of education and leadership was evident in her final year, when she served as an academic promotion prefect, organizing course option sessions for Level IIIs and offering tailored advice to help students make informed decisions. Her dedication to academics also shone through in her involvement in the Scholars' Guild and as head of the Model UN Club, where she mentored delegates and supported her peers. During Level IV, Caitlin founded a chapter of She's the First, a non-profit that focuses on making education more with her interests. She got a taste for the school when she attended their summer program prior to graduation. With a deep-rooted interest in entrepreneurship, influenced by her parents' involvement in business, Anne envisions a future where she runs her own company, valuing the freedom and creativity it offers. While at university she says she will stay involved in the arts through music, design and theatre. She hopes to get involved with the school's equity and diversity work and to pick up a sport as well. During her campus tour, she was particularly excited by Babson's woodworking, 3D printing and robotics workshops, which she hopes to explore further. Looking ahead, Anne plans to secure internship opportunities and leverage her IB credits to graduate early and gain real-world experience in management and entrepreneurship. Ultimately, she dreams of managing her own business, potentially within the arts industry, drawing on the knowledge and skills she'll develop throughout her university journey. accessible to women. She held a school supplies drive for the Toronto-based chapter, spoke at assemblies to raise awareness and wrote cards for women's shelters. As a school and ravine ambassador, Caitlin gave tours to new families and helped assess prospective students. She credits this role with sharpening her attention to detail and enhancing her ability to connect with others. "TFS has made me see that asking questions is a privilege," she says, referring to the many questions she too had of older peers. Caitlin attributes her mentorship experiences to shaping her personal growth not only as a student but also as a competitive figure skater and assistant coach. A passionate polyglot, Caitlin is fluent in five languages and currently learning a sixth. Her love for languages is more than a hobby – she applied her linguistic skills to volunteering for the Multicultural History Society of Ontario, where she gained a deeper appreciation for translation. "It is understanding the idioms, expressions and tone and then putting them into English when the words don't exist to do so," she explains. "This adds a layer of enrichment to the linguistic diversity of the world and motivates me to continue learning in order to connect with others on a deeper level." In the realm of poetry, Caitin competed in the Poetry in Voice competition for two years, becoming team regional champion in her first and representing the school at the national level in her second. Caitlin will study Medical Biosciences at Imperial College London, which she describes as Europe's hub of innovation. She's excited to engage in the reverse teaching environment, where she hopes to deepen her scientific knowledge and keep broadening her horizons with their philosophy offerings. Although her plans are still unfolding, she envisions obtaining her MD-PhD in regenerative medicine or becoming a bioengineer. At university, Caitlin aims to also immerse herself in theatre and singing while pursuing research. Continuing her leadership and advocacy, she intends to run campus tours and lead organizations promoting universal educational access. Beyond post- secondary, she looks forward to living in a country where she can immerse herself in a new language. 48 ENTRE NOUS
