From PK at the West Campus to Level V at the Senior School, Saahil spent his entire childhood at TFS before heading across the Atlantic to study law at the London School of Economics (LSE). "It was my mom who first saw an ad for TFS," he recalls. "As first-generation immigrants, my parents valued bilingualism and realized TFS would provide a unique opportunity." French was challenging, but by Grade 4, Saahil says, his parents took him to France and he was the family's designated translator. "I felt like I had a special skill and was able to connect with people in a way my parents couldn't because they didn't speak the language," he says. While at TFS, Saahil found meaning in both community and leadership. He served as an Academic Prefect and in Level IV he founded the Law Society, an initiative that gave students a space to explore and discuss legal topics outside the classroom. "I've actually been interested in law since Grade 1," he recalls. "I didn't understand the technical aspects, but I did understand the link between morality and the law. I had a strong sense of right and wrong." He continues: "Before that, I think I wanted to be a firefighter or a doctor. It's always been about helping people." For his Extended Essay, Saahil explored human rights law and economics, focusing on issues of corporate social responsibility. "When I practise law, I want to hold people accountable and help give those who feel underrepresented the opportunity to have a voice," he explains. Armed with the international perspective gained at TFS, Saahil says he feels well prepared for the next step in his journey. It was his parents who encouraged him to apply to direct-entry law programs in the UK and Europe. He credits his mom with instilling patience and the value of planning ahead by helping him create a vision board with his long-term goals. "My dad went to law school as a mature student and completed his degree three years ago," Saahil says. "It was his determination that pushed me. He's a role model for me and I want to embody that same level of perseverance and commitment that he has." Outside the classroom, Saahil loved playing on the Senior soccer team. When he took on the role of goalie for the first time, he embraced the challenge to support his team. "It was a challenge, but being part of a team and contributing to something bigger stuck with me. That's what really matters." His advice to younger students: "Don't overthink it. We're all under pressure, but not everything is as big as it seems. Know who you are and what matters to you— everything else will fall into place." DESTINATION / DESTINATION London School of Economics PROGRAMME / PROGRAM Law SAAHIL K. 50 ENTRE NOUS
