Message from the TFS Alumni Association President Sal Patel '04 following their graduation from TFS. It was both an informative and enlightening evening for all who attended. This fall, we held our second Alumni Community Supper. We were delighted to have Dr. Josep González, Head of School, share TFS' new vision, mission and values with us. The alumni gathered at the event applauded this new Strategic Plan, which we agreed did not, in fact, feel new, so much as a prideful crystallization of the school's essence and culture we'd all grown up with. TFS empowered us to make a positive impact in the world with integrity as discerning, respectful and engaged global citizens. The school's new Strategic Plan aims to instil these same values and aspirations in current students, which is something we're very proud of. Speaking of these values, our 2016 Alumni of Distinction recipients, Gabriela Maj '99 and Julia Ivonoffski '05, come to mind. Both women exemplify what it means to be a TFS graduate: Gabriela, as an esteemed photojournalist, and Julia, as a talented linguist and energetic entrepreneur. We're thrilled that the school's brand new Wall of Distinction located in the Senior School's Foyer des élèves James Doak, showcases all Alumni of Distinction, including our 2016 recipients. The largest fundraising campaign in our school's history closed on a high note, raising $10.2 million. The Entrance Scholarship program was of special interest to alumni, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting the Soaring Beyond campaign. TFS' first entrance scholar is enrolled and enjoying the opportunities we were all afforded. Your contributions make a difference, and we thank you for your ongoing support of our school's initiatives. 2017 promises to be just as exciting for the TFSAA, as we roll out a new digital platform, Graduway, for the alumni community. Mobile-friendly and easily accessible, it will provide increased opportunities for engagement with each other and the school. Dr. González is highly supportive of our community and actively encourages closer ties. As he often reminds us, TFS is not just our alma mater, it is our home. So, take pride in being a TFS alumnus/a, but most of all remember that, no matter where you are in the world, TFS will always be your home away from home. 2016 was an incredibly exciting year for TFS and the alumni community. The TFS Alumni Association (TFSAA) Executive took a good look at our events and connections with the broader alumni community, and sought to strengthen both. With this in mind, we refreshed the Class Representative program, with a clearer focus on being the primary communication point between TFS, the TFSAA Executive and alumni. We think we've found a way to better reach you with the news and happenings you care about. We are pleased that an overwhelming majority of your elected reps wanted to continue representing their grad years. We thank them for their volunteerism and look forward to their continued engagement in 2017. This past year, in addition to our annual holiday social and professional development events, we held our second London (UK) Chapter Event, hosted by Alan Zrado '99 and Class Rep Riley MacDonald '12. It was great to see a group of TFSers get together again across the pond. In partnership with the school's University Relations and Guidance team, we also hosted our annual Career and U.S. University Lunches, and guided university campus visits, all of which acted as great opportunities to build and foster connections between alumni and current students. At the request of both alumni and the school's current parents, we continued to create opportunities for both communities to interact. The Principals' Apéritif: The TFS Journey and Beyond, held in November, featured a dynamic group of alumni from varying years, who shared with parents their educational and career experiences 15 2015 – 2016 Report to Our Community
