As we celebrate the successful completion of our campaign, we also look forward to the future with optimism, as it symbolizes a fresh start. I encourage every member of our TFS family to pause and consider just how much we achieved in 2016 when we came together for our students and our school. We are now seeing the tangible results of our fundraising efforts in every branch and every classroom. The impact of your generosity benefits not only our current students, but also generations and generations to come. Your commitment to the campaign's priority projects ultimately supports the school's vision and mission, so I would like to thank everyone for giving the timeless gift of an exceptional education. During the campaign, we were also crafting a new strategic plan for the school. Unveiled in 2016, this document, which we aptly named Engagement, is the culmination of several years of valuable input from staff, parents, students and alumni. I urge everyone to read it. The strategic pillars we identified define who we are as a school, and they help us determine our priorities for the future and how we will achieve them. As a bilingual, international school, we are in a unique position to empower our students to make a positive impact in the world. We know that we want them to exude academic ambition, benefit from an all-round development as individuals and citizens, and view the world from an international perspective. These pillars, however, can only be sustained through strong community engagement. In other words, we continue to need you, our supportive and involved TFS community. In the months and years ahead, let us all actively continue to seek ways to encourage and promote engagement and a culture of giving based on our commitment to fulfil the mission of our school. A mission which, as articulated in our new strategic plan, is to develop multilingual critical thinkers who celebrate difference, transcend borders and strive for the betterment of humankind – individuals who reflect, citizens who act. We are all on an extraordinary journey to achieve this mission by working together. Ensemble. And our talented alumni, who are already citizens of the world with much wisdom to share, have a key part to play in this, which is why we must do everything we can to encourage an even deeper connection and dialogue between them and our current students. With these thoughts in mind, may engagement be our guiding light for 2017 as we strive to give our students every possible opportunity to flourish and succeed for themselves, for their families and their communities, and for the world as a whole.
