____________________________________________________________________________________ Page 18 of 19 Septembre 2016 Harassment Policy GLOSSARY In this policy, the following meanings apply. Agents of the School: People providing a service to the school under a contract. Assault: A violent physical or verbal attack. Complainant: Person making a complaint. Creed: A set of beliefs or opinions. Disciplinary measures: Consequences imposed by the employer. Dismissal: Termination of employment. Expulsion: Removal from a student of the right to attend the School. Harassment: Engaging in a course of vexatious comment or conduct that is known or ought reasonably to be known to be unwelcome ; or, sexual harassment . Harassment facilitators: Teachers appointed by the school's administration trained to advise and counsel student complainants. Intimidation: Threat. Investig ators: Members of management appointed by the Head of School or the Head of Human Resources Services to conduct a course of inquiry into harassment allegations after a formal written complaint has been made. Race: A term applied to indicate a particula r origin. Respondent: The alleged harasser who has received a copy of the formal written complaint. Retaliation: Revenge. Sexual abuse: Any form of direct or indirect sexual contact between a child and an adult. Sexual assault: A violent physical or verbal attack of a sexual nature.
