Time, Talent and Treasure TFS Alumni Give Back Vincent Manuele '03 PhD Candidate, French Literature University of Toronto TFS helped ignite in Vincent Manuele a passion for languages. After leaving TFS, he received an honours bachelor of arts degree in modern languages and a master of arts degree in French, is currently pursuing his PhD in French literature and is a course instructor in the French department, all at the University of Toronto. Recently, he has also taken on a contract position at the Franco-Ontarian TV station, TFO. Vincent regularly returns to TFS to connect with and support Senior School students. In addition to speaking about the importance of bilingualism at the Brevet Breakfast in 2014, he has participated in the Level IV and V Career Lunch and is now working with the Learning Forum to provide tutoring support for students. He is proud to be actively involved and making a diff erence. Refl ecting on his own experience at TFS and some of the challenges he faced, Vincent says, "tutoring became my opportunity to give back and assist those students in need of a little more attention. The most rewarding aspect are those moments when you see the enthusiasm that they feel when they fi nally understand something that they have struggled with for some time." When asked what advice he would give to Senior School students, Vincent says, "When possible, make sure you get your work done ahead of time. It will help you manage both your workload and your stress levels, leaving you with more time to spend with friends and to do the things you enjoy most." Illustrations by Joel Kimmel
