Throughout 2017, one could feel the energy and momentum building at TFS as we accomplished one goal after another. Excitement was generated last winter when we offi cially opened the Senior School Learning Forum and unveiled our beautiful new Wall of Distinction, to honour lifetime donors and our alumni of distinction recipients. In the spring, our community responded to our request for support with characteristic generosity so that our students could return in autumn to newly created Inspiring Places across all branches and more Innovative Learning Tools to support diff erentiated learning. In September, we were able to award a second entrance scholarship, welcoming the Webb Family Scholar to TFS. I thank all TFS supporters for helping us meet our funding priorities for the 2016-2017 school year. Our priority projects are delivering tangible teaching and learning benefi ts, ultimately ensuring that our school off ers not only a world- class education, but also an exceptional experience for our students. We continued to forge strong bonds with our TFS alumni. They live all over the world, work in hundreds of diff erent professions and speak many languages, but they endeavour to stay connected to one another and to our school, returning when possible, and acting as mentors to current students and future graduates. Our alumni truly embody the school's values of integrity, discernment, respect and engagement. We are immensely proud of you, and we want you to know that TFS will always be your home. TFS is clearly a thriving, vibrant and dynamic community. Our strength lies in our shared goal, and that goal is to provide the best education possible so that our children become multilingual critical thinkers who celebrate diff erence, transcend borders and strive for the betterment of humankind. Citizen engagement will be the key to humanity's ability to tackle its most pressing challenges, and I am proud to say that TFS is a leading educator in this regard, as the high value we place on citizenship informs our school's three strategic pillars — academic ambition, all-round development and international perspective. Indeed, this is an exciting time in the history of our school. TFS is well-positioned for the future, thanks to dedicated teamwork and the spirit of philanthropy that defi ne our community. I am delighted that the TFS Foundation will be strengthening its role in support of the school this year, as we develop a master plan for TFS, one that will assist us in creating the school of our dreams, a school that will justly refl ect our aspirations as Canada's international school. "There is nothing like a dream to create the future," wrote Victor Hugo. Certainly, dreams are what make and remake our world, and at the beginning of each year we dream anew. A dream shared, together with an engaged, supportive community and a well-thought-out plan, promise to make 2018 another memorable year at TFS. We could not lead this great school and our students into the future without you. Thank you for sharing our vision. Thank you for sharing the dream. TFS is well-positioned for the future, thanks to dedicated teamwork and the spirit of philanthropy that defi ne our community. 3 2016 – 2017 Report to Our Community
