Message from the TFS Alumni Association President Sal Patel '04 to welcome the freshest batch of alumni – the Class of 2017 – to the Alumni Association and let them know that they have more than 2,900 members of the TFS family supporting them on their journeys ahead! At our annual Alumni Reunion Dinner in June, we celebrated two outstanding Alumni of Distinction recipients, Julia Rucklidge '88 and Dalton Kellett '11. Julia is a professor of clinical psychology at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand and a leading world expert in the use of micronutrients to treat mood disorders, ADHD, anxiety and post-traumatic stress. Dalton, recipient of the Young Alumni of Distinction Award, is roaring into the spotlight as an up-and-coming professional racecar driver. That evening, we also celebrated the special reunion anniversaries of classes 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2002, 2007 and 2012. The TFS Alumni Association continues to work with the school to enhance alumni programs and events. To help us gain a better understanding of alumni thoughts and interests, we completed a comprehensive alumni survey; a big thank you to all who took the time to complete it! We look forward to sharing the results of this engagement survey with alumni at a community supper. As we jump into a new year, I want to remind you all that there are so many ways to continue to be involved with TFS – your home away from home! Reconnect with your classmates. Volunteer at the school. Mentor students. Support the school (or a student in need of a scholarship or bursary) financially if you are able – gifts of all sizes matter, and have a direct and positive impact on TFS students today. Alumni involvement in our school is so vital to our community and appreciated by all – students, parents, faculty and staff. And lastly, keep doing all the amazing things you are doing and don't forget to share them with us! Have an awesome 2018! In 2017 we made connections. After much research and planning, we launched TFS Connect. With alumni joining the platform every day, TFS Connect is proving to be one of the best ways for us to network, find professional opportunities and mentors and, most importantly, keep the friendships we made at TFS vibrant and alive, from wherever we are in the world. If you haven't yet, you can download the free TFS Connect app in your phone's app store, or visit the webpage at tfsconnect.ca and take advantage of this great resource. Beyond TFS Connect, we stayed connected in real life as well this year – with social events in Toronto and London (UK). Your Class Reps were instrumental in facilitating and supporting these events (and much more) this year, and I want to extend a special thank you to them for the invaluable role they've played in keeping alumni connected to one another and the school in 2017. It's been inspiring to see how many of us actively participated in the life of the school last year, and in so many beneficial ways, including supporting TFS students as mentors and volunteers. At our Career and U.S. University lunches we connected senior students with alumni, while a new Principals' Apéritif event gave alumni an opportunity to share their educational and career experiences since graduation with TFS parents. At the inaugural Red Tie Luncheon, it was my great honour 5 2016 – 2017 Report to Our Community
