Life at TFS NICOLE was enrolled in TFS in Pre-Kindergarten. Although her parents do not speak French, they consider bilingualism to be a practical asset as well as an intrinsic part of Canadian culture. A deep thinker and a middle-distance runner, Nicole stretches her mind and her body, always learning and striving to do her best whether she is on the track or in the classroom. Creative and bubbling with ideas, Nicole plunged into her role as Prefect of the newly formed Student Voice, which gave her carte blanche to do something special. She conceived of a virtual suggestion box that would truly allow for students to be heard; but the highlight of her TFS years was the time she devoted to Limited Edition, the student newspaper. She began as a journalist, became assistant editor, then editor. Among her many initiatives, "Humans of TFS," inspired by Humans of New York, is Nicole's legacy, capturing quotes and photos of the people who make up the TFS community. Under her editorship, Limited Edition won runner-up in the Toronto Star's high school journalism awards contest in two categories — best newspaper and best electronic layout and design. For her long-term service project, Nicole volunteered for Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, an experience she found inspiring. "TFS encourages us to be well-rounded individuals and aware of our role as engaged citizens." DETERMINED WRITER AMBITIOUS GOAL-SETTER CITIZEN
