Parents' Handbook 2020– 2021 13 Under no circumstances should any students walk between parked cars or cross driveways! BICYCLES, SCOOTERS AND SKATEBOARDS Under provincial law, all children under the age of 18 must wear a helmet while biking. Similarly, TFS strongly recommends that students wear helmets while using a scooter or skateboarding. All staff and students are expected to walk their bikes and scooters or carry their skateboards while on school property. Bike racks are available in front of the Senior School, to the west side of the Junior School, in front of La p'tite école and next to the administration building (306 Lawrence) on the Toronto campus. There is a bicycle rack at the West Campus as well. PARKING AND TRAFFIC FLOW Toronto Campus Your co-operation in safe driving and parking on campus is appreciated. Fire route enforcement: The school must maintain a clear access at all times to fire routes for emergency vehicles. Please observe the posted fire routes, noted in the illustration on this page. Vehicles that are parked in fire routes may be fined by police or bylaw officers ($250 per occurrence) or towed off the premises; fines, towing and impound storage of vehicles are the responsibility of the vehicle owner. While briefly stopping for student drop-off and pickup is permitted, parents are strongly urged not to park in the fire routes. - Keep to the one-way system and stay in your car to avoid congestion in the busy traffic zone; - Never leave your vehicle unattended when double parked or in the pick-up/drop-off area. Wait for the traffic to advance to safely pick up/drop off your child. Have your child's name card displayed on your dashboard for Junior School and La p'tite école pick-ups; - As per the Toronto bylaw, and for health and safety reasons, do not leave your car engine idling. The bylaw prohibits idling for more than one minute; - As per Ontario's bylaw, no handheld devices may be used while driving on school property; - The maximum speed limit on school property is 10 km/h; - Cars parked illegally may be tagged and/or towed; - Do not block our neighbours' driveways; - Please drive slowly and be aware of pedestrians. Mildenhall Road - Mildenhall Road is a ticketed (No Parking) zone. - Stopping or parking is prohibited in front of the school on Mildenhall Road between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.; - In the morning: we encourage you to drop off your child at the main entrance to La p'tite école, where a staff member will escort your child inside; LAWRENCE AVENUE EAST Junior School 296 Lawrence Administration Building 306 Lawrence Senior School 318 Lawrence BAYVIEW AVENUE NO PARKING NO PARKING NO PARKING NO PARKING PAR K I NG No Parking zones will be adjacent to red curb School Entrance No Parking Fire Route Curb Parking Allowed LEGEND
