42 Parents' Handbook 2021– 2022 Members are expected to use the Computer Network in a responsible and productive manner. The school expects students to use the Computer Network, since it is an integral part of the TFS curriculum, and grants them the privilege of using the Computer Network to further learning. By accessing the Computer Network, members consent and agree to be bound by the terms of this policy, as may be amended from time to time in the sole discretion of TFS. We ask that adults and students demonstrate courtesy and good judgment in their cell phone usage and adhere to the following guidelines. 1) Cell phones and other handheld or wearable electronic communication devices are to be turned off, placed in lockers and, in the Junior School and West Campus, not used at any point during the school day. At the Senior School, they cannot be used during class time, unless otherwise specified (this includes classes, assemblies and concerts, or other special events). This will minimize disruptions and ensure that teachers have the students' full attention. 2) Cell phones and other handheld or wearable electronic communication devices are strictly forbidden in test or exam rooms, unless otherwise specified. Students are asked to keep these items in their lockers. 3) No pictures or videos are to be taken with cell phones or other handheld or wearable electronic communication devices without the subject's explicit consent. 4) The use of cell phones, handheld or wearable electronic communication devices is strictly forbidden in washrooms, change rooms, and the pool area. 5) Members should not post student names via tagging on TFS social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter. If that occurs, the name will be removed and the user informed, if possible, of the reason for the deletion. 6) Members must not publish, distribute or post online photographs or video of other members or of TFS staff that may embarrass the individuals photographed. Notwithstanding the guidelines, the school at its sole discretion reserves the right to restrict cell phone and wearable electronic communication device use at any time. Please visit your branch website under Resources to read the full IT Acceptable Use Policy. VULNERABLE SECTOR POLICY (FOR VOLUNTEERS) The goal of TFS' Vulnerable Sector Policy is to ensure the safety of all TFS students. It applies to all parents, guardians and community members volunteering for the school in any capacity, including in the classroom, on trips, supporting school events or initiatives (including those outside of school hours) or participating on parent committees and/or the school and Foundation boards. Volunteers at the Jardin d'éveil and in PK classes, in any capacity, are required to complete a vulnerable sector check as per the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA). Parents or community members invited to attend a concert, a Parent-Teacher night, or a school event, are not considered to be volunteering. Limited screening will take place during fall 2021; as soon as volunteering on our campuses opens up more widely, the instructions for screening will be shared. Completing the screening includes three steps: annually signing and submitting the online offence declaration form to the branch administrator; every five years submitting a Vulnerable Sector Screening form to Toronto Police Services or the appropriate jurisdictional service; and providing the processed form to your branch. Please note that all teachers, educators and administrative staff hired by TFS undergo Vulnerable
