Dear TFS Community, Thank you for being our partners and unwavering supporters during another year that challenged and changed us. A new school year has begun, ushered in on a wave of renewed hope, optimism and a profound understanding of what we can accomplish together as a community. The pandemic has now disrupted parts of the last two years, including the graduations of the Classes of 2020 and 2021. While these disruptions were trying, they also highlighted who we are as a community. Together, we transitioned seamlessly to online learning, and by September 2020 we were equipped to welcome our students and teachers back to campus. There were ups and downs, but we met each challenge with grace and understanding. We're grateful to once again have in-person teaching and learning—and to see all of you every day. We would like to thank our families for their patience and for collaborating with us in supporting our students during a di ult time. Ultimately, we thank our students for their resilience, adaptability and for adjusting to remote learning, often with little notice. In the absence of TFS traditions, our students found new ways to remain connected, demonstrated true resolve and continued to learn and live their best lives alongside their classmates and friends. The Class of 2020 represented a fine example for the Class of 2021 to follow. Both classes found new ways to be together and to participate in all of the TFS traditions available to them—driving in to receive their diplomas with the same excitement as climbing the stage is but one example. These classes were undaunted by circumstances, becoming citizens who act, and they did so with courage. As a Board, our priorities during the pandemic were to first en ure our students' safety and success so that they could continue to learn and grow without disruption, and to fully benefit f om our leading international curriculum, whether experienced remotely or in-person. As well, we continue to move planning forward on our longer term campus master plan so that students at both campuses have the right spaces that are fl xible and adaptable to maximize learning and engagement opportunities. We are proud of all that we have accomplished together this year: the critical operational redevelopment of the lower-level kitchen and La Terrasse, so that our students can enjoy less waiting and more lunch time in a comfortable and engaging dining space; securing the necessary funding for the essential electrical upgrade as well as playground improvements at the West Campus; classroom technology upgrades in Junior and Senior School classrooms; and securing substantial support for the pandemic fund. We would like to thank Dr. Josep González for his leadership during this period and we wish him every success and much happiness as he embarks on a new chapter as a leading international scholar and educator. Our thanks also go to Deputy Head, Citizenship and Community Engagement, Michael Burke, as he retires. Over the past decade, Michael played a lead operational role behind key TFS initiatives, including the establishment of the Learning Forum. Thank you, Michael, for your many contributions to TFS. We wish to warmly welcome incoming TFS Chair Roger Poirier. Roger, Jennifer, and their three children have been part of the TFS community for the past 13 years. Roger was a Director and the Chair of the TFS Foundation Board for three years. For the past two years, he was a member of the TFS Board of Directors and served on various sub-committees. Bienvenue, Roger! A final thank ou to all TFS and TFS Foundation staff or your continuous effo ts in support of our students' safe return to school. What we achieved could only have been accomplished with your effo ts. Although we continue to live in pandemic times, our community is strong, our school fi cally sound, and our enrolment robust. There is little that we cannot accomplish together. 2 T F S F O U N D AT I O N A J O I N T M E S S A G E F R O M T H E H E A D O F S C H O O L ( I N T E R I M ) A N D C H A I R O F T H E T F S B O A R D U N M E S S A G E C O N J O I N T D U C H E F D ' É TA B L I S S E M E N T PA R I N T É R I M E T D U P R É S I D E N T D U C O N S E I L D 'A D M I N I S T R AT I O N D E T F S A YEAR OF RENEWED HOPE AND OPTIMISM Judy Goldring Chair, TFS Board of Directors Présidente du Conseil d'administration Norman Gaudet Head of School (Interim) Chef d'établissement par intérim
