Despite our challenges, our community came together like never before. In doing so, we demonstrated the power of our dedication, resolve and united actions for the benefit of oday's students and tomorrow's. The past year highlighted the critical importance of our united community, of belonging, and the importance of giving—of our time, energy, ideas and generosity—towards our shared vision for our school. We began the year with caution because everything was new and sudden. TFS Foundation quickly vacated its o e spaces to make it available for academic purposes. As the fi cal year began, it was still unclear how the TFS community at large would be impacted by the pandemic. Fundraising for the school's key priorities was temporarily paused, including the campus master plan. So we stayed in close contact and we supported each other to ensure our students stayed in school. As often as possible we would see our parents in the parking lot, extending sincere best wishes and hearty encouragement to press on in our collective struggle. One thing we heard often was gratitude from parents for all that TFS did to make each day special for our students. This gratitude, and the feeling of not taking anything for granted, rippled across our community and manifested in our holiday appeal, which was a tremendous success. Our community more than doubled our goal and raised $117,000! Our community showed their gratitude in so many ways this past year, but the holiday appeal remains a high watermark. Not only did your response demonstrate our collective commitment to our school, but you also demonstrated your commitment to each other through the dozens of personalized gratitude cards that parents sent out to teachers, principals, and staff. It as heartening during a time when we needed reassurance that we can overcome any challenge together. We are tremendously proud of our community for standing united with us to advance the long-term vision for TFS through these highlights: • Several significant gifts were made towards the critical operational renovation of La Terrasse and the lower-level kitchen, which serves every branch. Newly configured kitchen spaces and high-capacity commercial equipment will reduce student waiting and congestion while improving our environmental impact through the elimination of disposables. • The West Campus branch of the Parents' Association contributed $50,000 for an essential electrical upgrade and a new playground structure and shade cover. • Nearly $120,000 was given in gratitude during the holiday season. • $117,000 was donated to honour the Class of 2021 in support of student bursaries and surpassing all previous class funds. • $100,000 was contributed to the school's pandemic preparations. • $250,000 was raised to establish a new fully funded entrance scholarship. • Over $1 million was raised during registration—for the third consecutive year!
