A PLACE FOR
EVERYONE,
A SPACE FOR
EVERYONE
BY ANITA GRIFFITHS
Schools, by their very nature, are
places where students, staff, parents
and alumni create a communi by
connecting with one another. We can
see it as children speak and play
together, delve into academics, are
physically active, build friendships,
and find the delicate balance between
being individuals and citizens. We
can see it in staff meetings where
ideas are shared, and in parent events
where camaraderie is fostered.
Belonging and togetherness go hand-
in-hand with education.
In many ways, the COVID-19
pandemic has disconnected us.
Smiles have been covered by
masks, classmates have been
separated into cohorts, and our
society – worldwide – has had to
adjust to periods of isolation at
home, learning on devices, and
cancelling many of the gatherings
that help keep us close.
It's no wonder, that as this new
academic year started, with a new
Head of School, that, in addition
to the academic rigour TFS is
known for, our priorities included
finding a new sense of joy, well-
being and connectedness.
Whether it's during a music class
for three-year-olds, in the FabLab
with our tech teachers, on the
playground or the skating rink at
the West Campus, or at a student
council or club meeting, this year's
focus is on creating a space for
everyone, a place for everyone.
