CHLOE MCCONNELL '06 Senior Product Manager, Adobe MBA, Haas School of Business, University of California Berkeley Berkeley, CA Now living in California, Chloe takes part in trail running and outdoor rock climbing. A senior product manager at Adobe Inc., this Vassar College grad says winning the S.W. Karrys Family Scholarship showed her it was possible to balance athletics and academics, a message that has stayed with her throughout her career. " I tore my ACL right before my last year at TFS and was no longer able to play basketball. I remember reading about the S.W. Karrys Family Scholarship but was sure that no one viewed me as a student- athlete anymore. My guidance counsellor encouraged me to apply nonetheless. I was humbled and honoured to receive the award. On behalf of my younger 17-year-old self who really needed some validation, thank you so much." MARCUS DORSEY '16 B.Comm., Smith School of Business, Queen's University | Kingston, ON Marcus looked up to the recipients of the S.W. Karrys Family Scholarship, so he was honoured to be counted amongst them. He attributes his athleticism to the wide range of sports he was exposed to at TFS. His fondest memories revolve around his term as Athletics Prefect and being captain of the senior boys' soccer team during his final year. Marcus helped to organize the first-ever TFS home opener soccer game, which was held on the same day as the Terry Fox Run. "It was amazing to watch the entire student body follow the warm-up exercises that we led, and a tremendous honour to help create what I hope will be a legacy for many years." Marcus has just graduated from the Smith School of Business at Queen's University. He credits his ability to work through adversity to the resilience he developed as a student-athlete.
