Sixty years ago, two passionate
educators, Harry Giles (1930–2021)
and his spouse Anna Por Giles
(1931–1975), realized their dream
of creating the first bilingual,
coeducational, non-denominational
school in Canada. Today, it is
widely recognized as one of the
top independent schools in the
country and one of the two schools
nationwide to be granted royal
patronage by Her late Majesty,
Queen Elizabeth II.
To celebrate 60 years of providing a
leading international education, and
to honour six decades of dedicated
faculty, staff and outstanding
students and alumni, we kicked
off the school year with one of the
TFS Turns 60!
TFS 7
largest events we've ever hosted.
Wearing their house colours with
pride, 1,500 students and staff
gathered on Frazer Field for an
iconic aerial shot, our annual Terry
Fox Run and Indigenous dances
from Red Sky Performance.
Later that day, families joined us for
an afternoon filled with activities,
food and formal remarks from
our special guests. Just when we
thought the celebrations couldn't
get any better, the day ended
with our senior boys soccer team
leaving their mark on the field and
winning their home opener game,
as the entire school watched and
cheered them on. It was a legendary
ending to a legendary day.
