Parents' Handbook 2024– 2025 31 CODE OF CONDUCT Please read the full TFS Community Code of Conduct. All policies are available in the TFS Policies section of the Parent Portal (Veracross) under Parent Resources. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY HIGHLIGHTS TFS asks that all students, volunteers and parents/ guardians obey all laws/regulations and the Information Technology Acceptable Use Policy in connection to the use of TFS' computers, email, Internet and intranet access, databases and other computer and communication systems, including without limitation cloud-based servers that are accessible through TFS' computers (hereinafter collectively referred to as the "Computer Network"). Members are expected to use the Computer Network in a responsible and productive manner. The school expects students to use the Computer Network, since it is an integral part of the TFS curriculum, and grants them the privilege of using the Computer Network to further their learning. By accessing the Computer Network, members consent and agree to be bound by the terms of this policy, as it may be amended from time to time at the sole discretion of TFS. We ask that adults and students demonstrate courtesy and good judgement in their cell phone usage and adhere to the following guidelines. 1) Cell phones and other handheld or wearable electronic communication devices are to be turned off, placed in lockers and, at the Junior School, West Campus and Senior School up to Level II (inclusive), not used at any point during the school day. At the Senior School, starting in Level III they cannot be used during class time, unless otherwise specified (this includes classes, assemblies and concerts, or other special events). This will minimize disruptions and ensure that teachers have the students' full attention. 2) Cell phones and other handheld or wearable electronic communication devices are strictly forbidden in test or exam rooms, unless otherwise specified. Students are asked to keep these items in their lockers. 3) No pictures or videos are to be taken with cell phones or other handheld or wearable electronic communication devices without the subject's explicit consent. 4) The use of cell phones, handheld or wearable electronic communication devices is strictly forbidden in washrooms, change rooms and the pool area. 5) Members should not post student names via tagging on TFS social media sites, such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. If that occurs, the name will be removed and the user informed, if possible, of the reason for the deletion. 6) Members must not publish, distribute or post online photographs or videos of other members or of TFS staff that may embarrass the individuals photographed. Notwithstanding the guidelines, the school at its sole discretion reserves the right to restrict cell phone and wearable electronic communication device use at any time. Please read the full Acceptable Use of Technology Policy. All policies are available in the TFS Policies section of the Parent Portal (Veracross) under Parent Resources. Community Policies
