Our Level II and III junior soccer teams displayed stellar athleticism throughout the 2022–23 year. The junior boys team went undefeated in their fall season, giving them the honour of hosting the Conference of Independent Schools Athletic Association (CISAA) finals. Ultimately, they won with a 2–0 victory against tough opponents, Hillfield Strathallan College, and were named champions! Next up were our junior girls, who entered the CISAA spring season finals with only one loss to their name. The competition against St. John's-Kilmarnock was intense, and although they experienced travel issues the morning of their championship game, the girls managed to focus all of their attention on winning. The game ended with a final score of 2–1 for TFS and another championship victory for the junior Cougars! Junior Soccer Champs Nine Senior School students from Levels II to IV travelled to Rabat, Morocco, in early May to experience international relations in a cultural environment completely different from home. The fifth international edition of the André Malraux Model United Nations (AMMUN) gave 300 participants from all over the world, including our students, a chance to exercise and develop their diplomatic skills through debate. Of the four languages represented, our debaters took part in the French and English committees, where topics ranged from immigration to space exploration. They heard the different angles and arguments coming from young voices with very different perspectives as they also contributed their own. The exchanges continued as they embraced and learned about Moroccan culture while staying with students' families from Lycée Français International André- Malraux, a French international school in Rabat. Although the three days went by fast, the students said that they would love to participate in this experience all over again. Moroccan Model UN TFS 29 Through the inquiry-based, transdisciplinary curriculum of the Primary Years Program, our young IB learners are challenged to think critically and, most importantly, for themselves. Under the transdisciplinary theme of "how we organize ourselves," our Grade 1 students at La p'tite école learned about varied geographical landscapes and were tasked with examining their differences by grouping them into one of two categories, rural or urban. As they explored deeper, they also learned about what makes a community, considering things such as organizational structures and local businesses, and they applied mathematical concepts using tools such as maps and legends to better understand the environments that surround them. How Do We Organize Ourselves?
