Last year's Level IVs had much to celebrate as they completed their first year of the IB Diploma Program, which includes three core elements: the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course, the Extended Essay (EE) and the Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) compontent. Each challenges our students over the two years of the Diploma Program to apply their knowledge, as they prepare for the rigours of university through independent learning and self-management. At the end of the first year, students are tasked with creating a TOK exhibition, whereby they display three real-world objects, link them to one of the 35 internal assessment (IA) prompts, and provide a commentary. As always, parents are invited to visit the exhibition and can also browse the work completed for the CAS and EE elements. These are no easy challenges, but as we hear year after year from our graduates, the IB Diploma Program is a significant factor in helping them feel ready to take on their post-secondary educational journeys! At the IB Diploma Core For music teacher Rupert Price, the 60th anniversary Senior Spring Concert, performed by the wind ensemble and choir, was going just as planned. It was a full house, and the musicians were hitting every note. Little did Mr. Price know that 18 alumni who had graduated between 2012 and 2022 had gathered in Giles Hall waiting to surprise him. Midway through the show, the baton was handed over to Level V student Talina P., the maestro responsible for orchestrating this event; moments later, Mr. Price's former students entered through the gymnasium doors, playing their instruments as they joined the others on stage. This unforgettable moment left Mr. Price in complete shock as he stood in front of past and present wind ensemble members, all dedicating this special performance to him. And that was the moment when he realized this was no ordinary Spring Concert! A Spring Concert Secret Surprise ENTRE NOUS 28 For Grade 3 student Denise F., recess was about taking action. During breaks in between classes, she chose to spend her time cleaning up the school grounds and making sure it was clear of any garbage left behind – a prime example of the good we can do with our time, even if it's only a short 30 minutes. This young changemaker also reused some of the litter to build awareness of the importance of recycling by turning it into an artistic display. You're never too young to start making an impact on the world! Turning Recycling into Art
