30 TFS ALL THE WORLD'S A STAGE ARTS At TFS we take the arts seriously, though they are not always serious! Taught by specialist art and music teachers, students begin with joyful, experiential adventures into sound, colour, different media and techniques, including the hugely popular Messy Pants workshop where students in our Jardin d'éveil Hafez program (two-year-olds)—and their parents—mix colours with their hands and feet and paint on rolls of paper. The students in Jardin d'éveil also receive a weekly introduction to music with their music teacher, with music instruction continuing throughout the grades as students advance, as does art, starting in Grade 1. On the other end of the age spectrum, our Senior School hosts many cherished arts events annually, including the famed Fashion and Dance shows and the Coffee Houses (variety talent shows). Of course no school year would be complete without seasonal concerts, led by our award-winning ensembles. Perhaps the most eagerly anticipated visual arts event is the IB Vernissage, when our most senior IB art students present collections of original artwork, developed and refined over a two-year period. The stunning display of creative talent and critical analysis is not to be missed! IGNITED: IMAGINATION, CREATIVITY AND SELF-EXPRESSION Do you hear that sound? It's the Grade 1 violin performance. Or maybe it's Level II (Grade 9) students foraging in our ravine for found materials to build tree houses using sustainable architectural practices. at swoosh? It's the IB Diploma Program visual arts students painting their collections.
