LA P' TITE ÉCOLE The Black Excellence Society Visits La p'tite école Students from the Black Excellence Society (BES) at the Senior School visited their younger peers at La p'tite école in honour of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The BES students read them a children's book in French about Martin Luther King Jr.'s inspiring story, describing his role in the civil rights movement and his dream for a more just and equal world. The BES members also provided a powerful opportunity for the young students to share and develop their thoughts on issues such as racism and rights, and to discuss the importance of diversity, equality, kindness, friendship, justice and peace. At La p'tite école, our SK and Grade 1 students took to the playground where a rock climbing wall awaited them. For many, it was their first experience with rock climbing, and they faced the challenge with enthusiasm. Guided by instructors, each child scaled the wall, enjoying their time while overcoming their fears. Even principal Mme François joined in, inspiring all students with her climb. Rock climbing sessions like these not only play an important role in physical education but also serve as an example of the IB learner profile attribute of risk-taking. This involves students stepping outside their comfort zones to try new things in the pursuit of knowledge and skill development. LA P' TITE ÉCOLE Physical Education: Rock Climbing in SK and Grade 1 JUNIOR SCHOOL Junior School Triathlon On October 6, the Junior School and the Parents' Association held their much-anticipated triathlon on the Toronto campus for students from Grades 2 to 6. The course consisted of three segments: swimming, cycling and running. Our young triathletes demonstrated unwavering determination to complete the course and earn points for their respective house. This annual event, bringing together our community through a fun and accessible sporting competition, promotes important values such as engagement, planning, hard work and resilience and, above all, showcases the budding resolve of our young athletes. 9 TFS
