LUCAS P. DESTINATION Queen's University PROGRAM Health Sciences Lucas reflects on his time at TFS with pride. He took on a broad spectrum of leadership roles and co-curricular activities, excelled in academic competitions and immersed himself in music and sports. Known for going above and beyond, this mindset shaped his achievements. In Grade 6 Lucas joined the student council. He then became a CAP leader, mentoring Grade 6 students and helping them integrate into Senior School life. With an innate sense of social justice, he became Outreach prefect in Level I, responsible for connecting TFS and the greater Toronto community. That involvement included organizing student-led initiatives, Truth and Reconciliation work and a food drive for the North York Harvest Food Bank. Named head of the Peer Mentors in Level II, he led the group until graduation. And as a member of the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Justice (EDIJ) Council, Lucas felt empowered to advocate for meaningful change in the TFS community and beyond. He gained further appreciation for TFS' focus on active citizenship when his group won the Youth Philanthropy Initiative Challenge in Level II for their project on Indigenous housing. He then applied all of these experiences towards earning the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh International Gold Award. Outside of school, Lucas spent time volunteering at hospices, reinforcing his commitment to compassionate care. As the first in his family to learn French, Lucas deeply appreciates the language and culture, crediting TFS with helping him acquire French seamlessly. Beyond language, he also excelled in the sciences, specifically chemistry and biology. He enjoyed the challenge and was inspired by his teachers who taught him that anything is achievable. Having received a National Scholarship from the University of Toronto, Lucas is now studying health sciences at Queen's University, aiming to pursue medicine. Drawn to the program's focus on independent study and its strong support for health sciences innovation and research, he appreciates Queen's emphasis on balancing academic excellence with activities that foster lifelong learning. He can't wait to explore Queen's clubs, recognizing their value from his time at TFS. 37 TFS
