NOAH P. DESTINATION Huron University at Western PROGRAM Management & Organizational Studies & Business Warm-hearted and always eager for new experiences, Noah has a natural ability to connect with others. While at TFS, he actively participated in numerous co-curricular activities and promoted involvement and participation among his peers. For two years, Noah served as a House Head, leading students through school-wide spirit events. He found the experience incredibly rewarding and says it gave him the opportunity to develop his confidence and to be his authentic, outgoing self. Through this role, he says he learned how to balance TFS' academic rigour with playfulness and fun. Noah also dedicated a significant amount of time to the Best Buddies program. His three years of participation saw him engaging with students with developmental disabilities at the Toronto District School Board's Sir William Osler High School. He also worked as a Peer Mentor with younger students at TFS. He developed meaningful friendships and had a real impact in the lives of these students. For Noah, these experiences were eye-opening. "Peer mentoring doesn't just provide you with the chance to support younger students, but also teaches you how to adopt effective teaching methods for students of all ages and abilities," he says. While at TFS, Noah was able to successfully balance community involvement, academics, physical activity and personal time. He pursued his goals, made time for family and friends and was able to express the qualities of a well-rounded citizen. Now enrolled in the prestigious Ivey Business School, a program that begins with two years at Huron University at Western, Noah is eager to apply all that he has learned at TFS in the post-secondary environment. It was his love of mathematics and economics that led to his interest in business school. He is particularly curious about how business and economics influence real-world decisions. "The more I talked with people about their careers, the more I wanted to attend business school," he says. "I started doing research and realized it was something I would really enjoy." With an open mind about the possibilities ahead, Noah is confident that he will find his path in business. "There are so many options – accounting, marketing, commerce. The field is so wide open, and it gives me the chance to explore and specialize in something I truly enjoy." Though Noah is starting a new chapter, he is eager to maintain the connections he forged at TFS. He also looks forward to joining the Best Buddies program at Western, which fosters friendships between university students and adults with developmental disabilities in the community. And he plans to get involved in intramural sports, such as tennis or hockey, keeping his passion for teamwork and physical activity alive. 43 TFS
