ANTHONY Z. DESTINATION McGill University PROGRAM Management Anthony is a thoughtful and conscientious student who served as an ambassador for TFS during his time at the school. In his final year, he was elected to the top student leadership position, First Citizen, a role that he says was a wonderful opportunity to connect with new people in ways that most students might not get to experience. This position helped him refine his communication, leadership and collaboration skills, giving him valuable insights into the TFS community and a deeper appreciation for the administrative staff and other individuals who work behind the scenes to contribute to the school's success. As an eco prefect in Level IV, Anthony was able to focus on something he was truly passionate about: the environment. "I was able to choose my niche," he says, "which is why the role meant so much to me." This experience allowed Anthony to engage with a variety of school stakeholders. He recalls that he was even able to recruit a new student to the school after meeting their grandparents at a TFS Ravine Restoration Dinner. Anthony takes pride in the personal growth he achieved at TFS and expresses gratitude for the opportunities he's had. "Meeting and interacting with new people, participating in events and serving as a leader has been a great experience," he says. "I used to be really shy and did not like presenting in front of people. I was definitely not the same person I am today." When it comes to academics, Anthony says his favourite subject was economics. He's especially thankful to his teachers who brought this important subject to life and taught it in a clear and engaging way. "The teachers make a huge difference in fostering engagement and critical thinking. Their enthusiasm translates into a much more enjoyable learning experience," he says. Anthony appreciates how economics applies to daily life, recalling his parents' backgrounds in accounting. "Growing up, I heard many terms like 'supply and demand' and 'exchange rates,' but I didn't fully understand them. Learning about these concepts in the classroom finally answered all those questions I had." In order to continue his learning, Anthony decided to pursue commerce and management at McGill University. At university, Anthony plans to embrace new experiences. "I love putting myself out there and trying new things," he says. Having participated in TFS plays for nearly five years, he wants to continue acting. He also aims to further explore his environmental interests by seeking a role similar to his position as an eco prefect. Additionally, he hopes to stay active in sports, possibly taking up curling, sailing or baseball. Looking to the future, Anthony aspires to travel abroad, meet new people and broaden his horizons. He envisions a career in finance, with interests in fields such as consulting, buy-side investing and the automotive industry. 42 ENTRE NOUS
