6 SCHOLARSHIP REPORT This year, I have gained a clearer understanding of who I am and what I want for my future. Through my classes, experiences and interactions with teachers and peers, I've explored my interests, passions and values more deeply. One new thing I tried was organizing a donation drive and giving a presentation about the cause it supported. It was especially meaningful because it allowed me to share something I truly care about while making a positive impact on the school community. Through the experience, I strengthened my public speaking and leadership skills, learned how to work toward a common goal and gained the confidence to share a part of myself with others. My biology teacher, Ms. Mihaljevic, stood out most to me this year. At the beginning of the course, I found some of the material challenging, but she was always available to help, whether during class or after school. Her patience and encouragement played an important role in my success. As a second-generation immigrant, I've grown up surrounded by different perspectives. Those experiences have strengthened my appreciation for collaboration in an increasingly interconnected world. After graduating from TFS, I hope to study Health Sciences before pursuing medicine, with a particular focus on women's health. While my path may evolve over time, I hope to build a career that combines my interest in science with my commitment to social justice. — Level III Student, enrolled 2022 One of my favourite memories from TFS is graduation. It gave me the chance to reflect on my journey and see how much I have grown since I first arrived. Receiving an award that acknowledged my passion for life sciences was especially meaningful and a reminder that my hard work had paid off. Chemistry remained my favourite class, as it strengthened my love for Life Sciences and Biochemistry. My teacher's enthusiasm made every class engaging. Unexpectedly, English also became one of my favourite subjects. Thanks to Ms. Nelson's enthusiasm for literature, I developed a new appreciation for the subject and became much more open-minded. As I graduate, I've also reflected on the generosity of my sponsor families and the opportunities they made possible. Their support inspired me to give back by encouraging younger students as they begin their own journeys, just as older students once welcomed and supported me. This fall, I will attend McMaster University's Life Sciences Gateway program. I hope to continue on to medical school or pursue graduate studies in Biochemistry or Neuroscience, with the goal of becoming a physician or medical researcher. — Level V Student, enrolled 2020
