Vulnerable Sector Check Policy Highlights: TFS has the responsibility to provide a safe and secure learning environment for its students. The school is in a position of trust with regard to its pupils, and must take steps to protect their physical, mental and emotional well-being. As such, TFS must ensure that its employees, volunteers and service providers have not been convicted of a criminal offence(s) that raises any question as to the trust the school places in them and/or which would, if repeated, compromise the safety and well-being of the school's pupils. This policy applies to all school employees, volunteers, college or university placement students and in-house service providers as a result of their position, either part time or full time, to obtain a vulnerable sector police check. The employee, volunteer (including parents if required) will complete a Confidential Offence Declaration annually, dated no later than 15 days from the anniversary date of the original VSC. This will be renewed annually during the five years of their VSC validity. Please note because of the on-going pandemic, there are no volunteers needed this current school year and until further notice ; therefore there is no need to submit this form. The CCEYA requires all licensed child care facilities that provide care for children to implement and maintain a written safe sleep policy in accordance with the most recent safe sleep recommendations of Public Health. TFS shall ensure that: 1. Direct visual checks are performed every 30 minutes on each sleeping child by being physically present beside the child and looking for indicators of distress or unusual behaviour. 2. There is sufficient light in the sleep area or room to conduct direct visual checks. 3. Children are assigned to individual cots in accordance with Ontario Regulation 137/15. 4. Parents are consulted in respect to their child's sleeping arrangements at the time the child is enrolled and at any other appropriate time. 5. Parents of children who regularly sleep at the child care are advised of the centre's policies and procedures regarding children's sleep.
