6. The observance of any significant changes in a child's sleeping patterns during sleep is communicated to parents and will result in adjustments to the way the child is supervised during sleep. 7. Steps will be taken to keep children from overheating by regulating the room temperature, avoiding excess bedding and not over-dressing. Nutrition/Meals Due to the pandemic, during meals, children will be required to practice physical distancing as much as possible. They will not be allowed to share food, utensils or other items such as serving spoons. Food will no longer be served Family style (food kept on the table, children encouraged to self serve) and will be individually plated before being served to the children at the table. The delivery of food will be staggered and done by cohort. Children are provided with a hot lunch and two healthy snacks each day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Selections must be made online through the Parent Portal. The well-balanced and nutritious offerings, prepared according to Canada's Food Guide, are posted in the hallway and are available on our class website. Our staff will encourage the children to feed themselves, learn table manners and try what is offered. Drinking water is available at all times. Parents are asked to inform the school/food provider of any food restrictions (allergies, special diet, religious or cultural food restrictions). Remember that TFS is a nut-restricted environment. Allergies are posted in classrooms, as well as the kitchen, office and staff room. Child's Health Illness • If your child is not well please keep them home • An ill/injured child is taken care of by the educator/ teacher and/or the school nurse to be given medical attention as needed. You will be called and asked to come and pick up your child if required. • The public health department requires that a young child must be free of: – fever for 24 hours before being allowed to return to school. – gastrointestinal symptoms (diarrhea) for 48 hours before being allowed to return to school. This is a safety measure to protect children from transmitting/catching viral infections.
