Taking Their Math Skills to Market Our Grade 2 Junior School students took an exciting trip to the St. Lawrence Market after learning about different kinds of markets around the world. As they paid for their snacks using the knowledge gained from lessons involving money and math, our students also observed how shopkeepers communicated with customers while trying to sell goods. With this experience fresh in their minds, and as part of their unit on "sharing the planet," the Grade 2 students created their own market, "Le marché." The Grade 3 students were invited to the market to purchase their goods, brought from home and set at prices that the Grade 2s established together. All proceeds from the market were donated to Tim Hortons Foundation Camps! TFS 11 Students Explore the Ravine with Their Parents Having a 26-acre outdoor classroom on campus is a resource that very few get to experience. Our students are given the opportunity to learn, explore and research in nature as often as they do in class. In the fall, our JK parents had the unique chance to join their children under the colourful fall leaves to discover, play and share a wonderful time together. Snack-Pack Project Our West Campus showed us how exceptional we can be when we magnify our intentions for good. In collaboration with The Compass in Port Credit, the community aimed to donate items such as juice boxes, cereal bars, fruit gummies and sealed fruit cups to create snack-packs for students in Ontario with less access to these goods. Their goal was to match the number of snack-packs to the 193 students at the branch. An outstanding 9,200 items were collected and 915 snack-packs were donated. Multiplying their goal by 4.7, the community showed what we can do when we come together for the benefit of all.
