West Campus Softball PLAYING in the Private Schools' Athletic Association (PSAA), our West Campus athletes have been developing their skills in softball and seeing the value of sportsmanship. In May, both the U14 and U12 softball teams competed in the PSAA tournament. In the U14 category, the players improved their skills and deepened their understanding of fielding strategies. The girls secured second place and the boys finished third in their pool. The U12 boys finished with an honourable third place, and while the girls' team outplayed their opponents and won a place in the finals, they came back with a respectable second place. ATHLETICS Athletic Accolades at OFSAA TFS qualified for five OFSAA (Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations) championships in winter and spring 2015, including our young and growing curling team, who placed a respectable eighth in the province. The swimming relay team also qualified for OFSAA, finishing eighth in Ontario. TFS' GYMNASTICS TEAM went to OFSAA as well, garnering a large number of great results. The most impressive was the gold medal in the aerobic gymnastics category. TFS has a long history of amazing wins at OFSAA gymnastics. AN EARLY START FOR ATHLETES THE EXCITEMENT amongst our youngest aspiring athletes was palpable this fall, as TFS launched its first Grade 3 competitive athletics teams in Toronto. The new program features fall soccer, winter basketball, and spring track and field. The soccer team was 35-strong with both boy and girl players. TFS is one of the first schools to start athletics in Grade 3 in the CISAA (Conference of Independent Schools Athletic Association). In anticipation of positive interest towards the Grade 3 program, the school is now offering clinics for Grade 2 students as well. Held at the end of each term, the clinics take place over two to three days, giving all interested students an introduction to new sports. Home Opener – A New Tradition AS PART OF TFS EN FÊTE, parents and students were treated to our inaugural Home Opener, featuring a Grade 3 co-ed soccer game, followed by the wonderful match-up of our Cougars' U20 boys soccer team against the Greenwood Grizzlies. The performance by the TFS Cougars Athletics Band was also a special treat. Our U20 athletes showed incredible grit and skill, with the Cougars proudly winning with a score of 5 to 1. 6 TFS ENTRE NOUS 2015 6 TFS ENTRE NOUS 2015
