TFS Musicians Perform in Italy IN MARCH 2017, SENIOR SCHOOL MUSICIANS TRAVELLED TO ITALY TO PERFORM IN THREE DIFFERENT CITIES. Prior to their departure, the students had learned a Venetian classical piece. They played their instruments in a water taxi through the Grand Canal in Venice, as they approached the San Marco Basilica West Campus Students in Switzerland ON THIS EDUCATIONAL EXCHANGE, our students learned about the different cultures in Switzerland and experienced how the country embodies international cooperation in its customs. They also learned so much from their French-speaking host families, who introduced them to the customs of European culture and a wide variety of foods outside their customary diets. Our International perspective Perspective internationale students had an enriching time in Geneva, a city that holds so much European history and is home to more than 250 international organizations. Their time at the United Nations coincided with the 34th Congress on Human Rights, a memorable moment for all! Students had a first- hand look at the old city and learned how Swiss norms developed, out of the founding of Geneva. They also visited several museums, including the International Red Cross museum, and, of course, learned how to make chocolate! and played additional compositions for enthusiastic crowds in other venues around Italy. They climbed the 427 steps to the top of the Cupola of the Duomo in Florence, and were rewarded with a breathtaking, 360-degree view. In Rome, as the tour guide recounted in detail historical events that took place many lifetimes ago, imaginations soared as students envisioned themselves as gladiators in the infamous Colosseum. A trip to Italy simply would not be complete without authentic Italian pizza and our students took it a step further and attended the Apicius International School of Hospitality in Florence, where they learned to make their very own traditional pizza in a stone oven. Deliziosa! 8 TFS ENTRE NOUS 2018
